Birthday Beach Day

We decided to give Mylo his birthday presents on Saturday as that was his party day and he would have been rather confused about receiving presents he didn’t know what to do with (read below for his present list) We got him a Train Table with brio (donated shhhhhhh) and lots of Thomas Trains including of course Thomas himself, James, Rosie, Molly and Gordon amongst others. (ebay shhhhhh!) As we can’t believe they charge £10 per train!!!!! He also got some books, stickers and Fuzzy Felt Faces.

We all had a great day at Mylo’s Beach Party at Portobello Beach this Saturday and it was even Sunny. It was looking a bit iffy to start with… it had been raining… but by 12:30 the Sun was out in full force! Everyone stayed for around 4 hours.

Who attended?

Family: Granny, Grandpa, Gran, Grandad, Granny Peggy, Uncle Barry, Auntie Angela and Cousin Amy

Friends: Sophie and Izabella and their Folks.

What Occurred?

  • Everyone got lost as we gave such bad directions!
  • There was an airshow with loads of cool planes flying overhead.
  • There were Swans in the Sea.
  • There was a lot of lounging around by the adults while the kids had a ball rolling in the sand, chasing each other, ‘playing’ football and having lots of fun.
  • We played with a big parachute the kids went under it and on top of it.
  • We had some food. The usual sandy ham and cheese rolls, quiche, crisps, sausage rolls (Granny - Turnbull made Samosas with black pudding and some with spinach).
  • Shock Horror!!! Grandpa Turnbull went in the sea and danced a jig with Mylo!!!!!
  • Alex had to wear a knotted hanky as he forgot his hat.
  • Mylo opened his presents on the beach. He got a Balamory DVD, Aliens Wear Underpants book, Thomas Water Tower, Thomas Cargo transfer, Dinosaur Adventure Set, “Pennies” and more trains Mallard and Annie and Clarabel.
  • There was cake eating (Mummy made car shaped cakes).
  • Lots of Sunburn occurred.

Photos coming soon.

What Have You Done With Our Son?

What has happened to our son? It seems he has turned into well erm a good boy.!!??

We walked to the shops and today was the first day I let him decide when to hold my hand (I was nervous) but it was ok as he walked right beside me… stopped when he came to roads (I tell him to watch out for the bumpy bit on each pavement and he has to wait there) and he held my hand when he felt he needed to.

When we got to the shops he didn’t tear everything of the shelves but went straight to the milk and “pop it in the basket” we then “buy it” and then he helped “pop it in the bag”

The walk back home was the same again only this time with a pack of Pom Bears so he was eating and then again put his hand out if he wanted me to hold it.

We got home he walked up the stairs without any fuss. Usually it is a battle with me leaving him down there and him complaining about everything under the sun like “i’m too hot” “carry me” or “i wanna go to the park”

To top it off as soon as we walked in the door he said “i wanna go to sleep now”… well that was good enough for me… someone has cloned our son and replaced him with a strange child who is doing what I want without me asking, bribing or tricking him into doing things.

Success… !

Today in exchange for a sticker we have had 1 pee pee in the big toilet… he sat there so long he had a red mark round his bum.. think the toddler seat might be too small for his bum!

“stay in da ‘ouse”

“No,I’ll stay in house and play cars” is Mylo’s new phrase… when asked if he wants to go out.

“No like that one” is becoming another firm favourite. This can be a bit tiresome when trawling through his vast book collection trying to find a book he does like!

The talking has escalated to such a level that we can no longer keep up. Think the longest sentences have been “Mummy, get out car and see horses now” and “put some of the cars up there” and “Daddy, get out bed and get in the shower”

My favourite phrase of the week is “like taxis, they’re nice”
